Will A. McTeer was born in Blount County, Tenn., and lived there most of his life. He was a lawyer, legislator and banker. In 1862 he joined the Third Tennessee Cavalry of the Union Army as a private and retired as a major at the end of the Civil War. He married Mary T. Wilson, who died in 1898. In 1903 he married Mrs. Lucy Tilden Wilson, with whom he had one child, Wilson McTeer. Will A.
