Leonidas Campbell Houk (1836-1891), was born in Sevier County, Tenn. He was a lawyer, judge, and congressman. He served in the Union Army from 1861 to 1863. He was circuit judge of the 17th judicial district of Tennessee (1866-1869). Moved to Knoxville in 1870 and was involved in local and national politics. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1878 and served until his death in 1891. He was married to Elizabeth Matilda Smith (died 1879) and to Mary Belle Van Rosen. John...

[1888]. (Date supplied by seller). The first words at the top are missing, probably ‘The Ballad of’. Twenty 4-line verses telling the story of the 1888 murder of Thomas Goodson in Elizabethton, Tenn. Tells of Honeycutt’s arrest, trial, imprisonment, appeal, etc. Honeycutt claims his innocence.
