Scope and Contents Papers of Hugh Wheeler Sanford (1879-1961), an industrialist, inventor, financier, and author. Papers date from 1886-1963. He was the son of Edward Jackson and Emma Chavannes Sanford, graduated from Harvard University in 1900, returned to live in Knoxville. He was board chairman of Sanford-Day Iron Works and the Knoxville Metal Products Company and was a director of Fidelity Bankers Trust Company, Kimballs, Inc., Sanford Realty Company, and Manufacturers Acceptance Corporation.
