Bill Tracy (1920-1988) began his career in photography working in 1945 in the studio of Knoxville photographer Jim Thompson. In 1957 Tracy opened his own photography studio which he operated until 1976 when he turned his studio over to his son, Ernie Tracy. Boxes filled with varied sizes of glass plate negatives by Jim Thompson, including 4”x5”, 5”x7”, 7”x11”, and oversized. Approximately 1400 negatives. These negatives are some of the oldest surviving work of James (Jim) Thompson. The earliest known date is 1907.
