Will A. McTeer was born in Blount County, Tenn., and lived there most of his life. He was a lawyer, legislator and banker. In 1862 he joined the Third Tennessee Cavalry of the Union Army as a private and retired as a major at the end of the Civil War. He married Mary T. Wilson, who died in 1898.
