Snapshot of Charles Lindbergh and his plane The Spirit of St. Louis, taken by Carlie Lucas of Phillips Avenue in South Knoxville. Taken in 1927 on Lindbergh’s tour of the United States. Probably taken at Chattanooga October 5, 1927 when Lindbergh landed there in his national tour of the US. He landed in Memphis and Chattanooga on the tour. In 1928 after the tour the airplane was donated to the Smithsonian Institution The snapshot was later given to Miss Lucas’ niece, Mary Lou Coggins. Shows...
