W. S. (Winfield Scott) Hannum (1862-1938) was possibly born a slave in Blount County, Tennessee. However, he lived most of his life in Knoxville. Hannum was the longtime janitor of the Knox County Court House (1908-1938). He and his wife Julia were active members of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Knoxville.
