Scope and Contents
Tape features several different recordings, beginning with Lewis King interviewing a married couple from the East Tennessee mountains living in Dayton, Ohio. They speak about differences between city life and life in Tennessee. Next section features John Gaventa interviewing a man in Tennessee about his experiences living in the city. This man prefers city life but wants to live in a Tennessee city. Next section features Lewis King driving through a city, presumably Dayton, Ohio. Next section features Lewis King being interviewed by John Gaventa on his preference for Tennessee life. Next section features Lewis King interviewing a woman named Phyllis in Dayton, Ohio, on her experiences of city life compared to life in Tennessee. The final section includes interviews with several people: two women talk about their experiences living in Cincinnati, and two men talk about working at a steel mill in Cleveland.
