Thomas Smith Harvey b. Oct. 11, 1839; enlisted Feb. 6, 1862 at Flat Lick, Ky.; mustered out Feb. 23, 1865 Nashville. Married Oct. 6, 1865 Martha W. Cofer. Information transcribed from note in the papers. Daguerreotype (or tintype) in (broken) case of soldier in uniform believed to be Thomas Smith Harvey. Tintype in paper cover of woman with infant in her lap [Martha Covey Harvey and child]. Letter with printed letterhead “The War for the Union” dated Jan 26, 1864, to his aunt “Just so we whip the Rebels so we have peace one more time.” + other papers, n.d., 1915-1930 and one envelope (stamp torn). 1930 letter from Mary Ann Birdwell Hair re: 1864 letter.
