AD 1 pc.; John Farmer letter ‘to the Farmers at home,’ Decatur, Alabama. August 21, 1864. ALS 2 pp. (1 pc.). Re: health, ‘Rebs surrounded our camp,’ ‘Hurrah for Lincoln and Johnson, We will whip the Rebs and free the Negro. We don’t give a dam (sic.) which way the river runs.’ Signed John Farmer.; Eli P. Ballinger letter to ‘Dear friends,’ Upland, Grant County, Indiana, February 17, 1884. ALS 3 pp. (torn). Re: he is son of John Ballinger and grandson of Joseph Ballinger. Mentions Solomon Farmer, family news. MM-2011-008b Photocopies of Civil War service records of Elisha Farmer, Co. H, 3 Tennessee Cavalry; John Farmer, Co. A, 3 Tennessee Cavalry; and Joseph Farmer, Co. H, 3 Tennessee Cavalry. Also photocopy of transcribed 1860 Blount County, Tenn., census entry for Solom (sic.)
