Scope and Contents

Plaque with the words “M.E. Thompson. Knoxville’s Centennial Mayor, 1892.” (silver, shield-shaped), mounted on wooden backing. Small brass plaque at bottom says: “Name plate from the Fire Engine M.E. Thompson, Knoxville Fire Department, 1892. Donated on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Ferris (Frank) A. Dawson, grandson of Knoxville Mayor M.E. Thompson.” Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Coile via Jack Lewis. + Knoxville News-Sentinel article, November 28, 1926, re: Knoxville Fire Department and the fire engine. Mounted between 2 sheets of plexiglass.
