MM.2000.007a:1) Two envelopes addressed to Miss Julia Reagan, H. C. F. College, Asheville, N. C. Stamp area torn away on one envelopes, stamp missing from 2nd envelope. Inside of one envelope addressed to Gen. Jas. H. Reagan, Facility, Tenn. Handwritten dates on front: ‘17th May,’ ’ and ‘6th Aug.’ + one envelope dated Nov. 29/63 (from) Pigeon River, N. C. to Miss Julia Reagan, care of J. C. Norwood, Lenoir, Caldwell Co., N. C. (torn, stamp missing) 2) July 21, 1862, letter to Miss Margaret. Near Pendleton, S. C. AL 2 pp. (1st page and page 3). 3) June 16, 1863, letter to Julia (Julia Reagan) from mother M. A. R. (Myra Ann Reagan). ALS 4 pp.(1 pc.) + envelope addressed to Miss Julia Reagan, H. C. F. College, Asheville, N. C. Stamp area torn away. Inside of one envelope addressed to Gen. Jas. H. Reagan, Facility, Tenn. Handwritten dates on front: ‘17th June,’ ’ 1 pc. 4) June 29, 1863, letter to Julia (Julia Reagan) from mother M. A. R. (Myra Ann Reagan). 5) August 15 note from Lou C. (identified by seller as Louise Caroline Ballard, 1863 , to sister Julia C. Reagan re: death of their grandfather). ANS 1 pc. 6) Dec, 5, 1864, & Feb. 5, 1865, letter to Sister E. Mrs. Elizabeth M. Martin, Memphis, Tenn., from M. A. Reagan. ALS 4 pp. (1 pc.) + envelope with stamp (notes written on env.). Re: death of her husband, Genl. James H. Reagan. Letters mention: battles, Col. Neal, Steubenville, wounded soldiers, Capt. Turner killed, Lenoir, death of Dr. Harvey Baker, trains, Pegram’s Brigade, Vicksburg, Sweetwater, death of Mr. R[eagan], prisoner of war; religious revivals, African-Americans, crops, family news. MM.2000.007 b: transcriptions of letters and biographical information supplied by seller. Myra Ann Lenoir Reagan was the second wife of Gen. James Hayes Reagan (1800-1864), McMinn County, Tenn. He served as postmaster in Facility, Tenn. He was arrested by the Federal troops and died in a military prison camp in Knoxville on October 15, 1864. (Information from seller).
