Swann Family Research--Claire Utt Collection.

 Collection
Identifier: MSC 0843

Scope and Contents

Claire Utt was an avid genealogist from the time she discovered the hobby in the early 1970's until ill health in 2010 made it impossible for her to continue to do the research. She died on May 16, 2012. Claire lived in Winfield, Kansas until 2007, when she moved to Wichita, Kansas to an assisted living facility. She researched numerous family lines on both her own and her husband's family. Claire's interest in the Swan family stemmed from Mary Burgess Swan Utt. In the last few years, Claire often spoke of having almost enough information collected and reviewed on the Swans to publish a book on the family. Many of the early Swans were residents of North Carolina and Tennessee.
