Scope and Contents

The McCammon-Henderson Collection consists of two boxes of manuscripts, clippings, photographs, photocopies of photographs, and biographical material on the McCammon family of Knox County and Davidson County, Tennessee. Correspondents include Samuel McCammon, William Cowan McCammon, Eliza McCammon, Martha McCammon, Euphrasia McCammon, John Randels, Joanna Randles, Lillie Randles and others Subjects include the Civil War, family matters, pensions, education, poetry, religions and other topics. Biographical information about the donors, Dr. and Mrs. Harold Alpheus (Al) Henderson (Joanna E McCammon)..Also, one oversize folder with Phelp’s and Watsom’s Historical and Military Map of the Border and Southern States (1864) (preserved in mylar). The map contains hand-drawn dots indicating the recruitment stops of 2nd Lt. William McCammon, 3rd Regt, East Tenn. Cavalry, Co. C. Biographical sketch of Samuel McCammon (1808-1865) written by Joanna M. Henderson recd. August 2015--added at end of collection as Folder 29.
