May 9, 1870 letter (to James A. Cooper, George W. Ross, and James Rogers, Knoxville, Tenn.) from Geo. Bothwell(?), Secretary, Treasury Department. ALS 1 p. Authorizes the recipients to serve as a commission to receive proposals for the site for the U.S. Court House and Post Office (Custom House) (the East Tennessee History Center in 2005) in Knoxville. Matted and framed in wooden frame (15 x 16”).
