Scope and Contents
Anderson County resident Earl E. Stout; Letters and documents relating to military service in World War II. He served in the United States Army. He was trained at a number of camps in the U.S. including Fort Riley, Kansas; Camp Barkeley, Texas; Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; Camp Howze, Texas; Camp Maxey, Texas; Camp Swift, Texas; Camp Hood, Texas; Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi and Camp Bowie, Texas. The correspondence starts in 1944 while Earl is stationed at Camp Barkeley. He also served in Europe and at Fort Dix, N. J. Also included: ration booklets and ration stamps, pay records informational and inspirational pamphlets, a military insignia patch, a bank account book, stamps, stickers, bills and receipts, postcards, tickets, souvenir photos, wartime maps and a recording of Earl’s voice sent to Frances during the war. He was employed at A.B.C. (American Bemberg Corporation) in Elizabethton, Tennessee. There are military-themed greeting cards and letterheads.
