Scope and Contents

1. Signed photograph of Theo Tate. (Henry Theodore Tate, Dec. 28, 1875-July 14, 1952). (corners taped & damaged). 2. Signed photograph of Hugh M. Tate. Knaffl & Brakebill, Knoxville, Tenn. (Donor says he was a judge involved in the Scopes Trial). Brittle backing, upper left corner missing. 3. Photocopy about signers of U.S. currency, including Secretary of the Treasury Harold Theodore Tate who served from May 31, 1928 to January 17, 1929 +2-sided color photocopy of $1.00 bill signed by H.T. Tate. Also other photocopies about Tates and Tate Springs. 4. Leather-bound ledger from the Tate family of Grainger County, Tenn. Identified by relative Comfort Knox Tate Brant as being a ledger from the General Store and/or Noe’s Mill located at May Spring (now covered by Cherokee Lake). Store owned by Jacob Noe and wife Margaret Tate Noe. Starts with p. 15. Writings & parodies, pp. 15-29; Account records, 1882-1889, pp. 30-53; Tate Family history by Comfort Tate Noe Rich, pp. 55-63; pp. 64-372 are blank; military service notes, pp. 373-379; accounts, 1870-1880s, pp. 400-[434].
