Scope and Contents

The first meeting of the Southern Association of College Women in Knoxville was held in the summer of 1903. In the spring of 1921 the organization affiliated with the American Association of College Women (AAUW) and the first meeting held as the Knoxville Branch of the American Association of College Women was held on May 3, 1921. Records of the organization include folders on the chapter's history and its centennial celebration in 2003; minutes, 1903-1982; membership/dues cards; Study Group material; Knoxville Branch By-laws; reports; Knoxville Branch Newsletters, 1956-1967; Tennessee Division Directory of Officers; publications including Journal of the American Association of University Women, AAUW Journal ,Graduate Woman, and AAUW Journal Newspaper; membership records; financial records, club yearbooks, 1936/37 through 2003/04; and scrapbooks. Recd. 6-25-2014 from Ann Loy: 1 box (2002-2008) + 3 oversize display boards done by Margie LeCoultre (one re: 100th anniversary in 2003). (some water damage).
