Papers (1785-1899) mention slaves by name, bills of sale & judgments re: slaves, land transfers & claims, deeds, Joseph White will, Bible Society circulars, the Steamboat Knoxville, Thomas Graham Creek War certificate of service, Strawberry Plains, Grainger, Blount, and Madison Counties, Civil War letters and letters written from Civil War camp, judgments & related papers, Blaines Cross Roads, Improvement of the Tennessee River, settlements & debts paid by barter, guardianships, William Sawyers' Mill, McBee's Ferry, William Priestley's Mill, Washington Church, Mount Vernon Schoolhouse, Knox County election results, tax lists, the Cumberland Camp, Col. John Sawyers, Rachel Sawyers, Nancy E. Sawyers, Stokely Donelson, Ganum McBee, Justice James Park, and Col. Ramsey. Also, McBee, Sawyers, Cassaday, Crawford, Cobb, Hixon, Hashbarger, Forgey, Peterson, Whitner and Mynatt family members and estates. Many other families and estates are also included. (McClung does not own the Family Bible). Gift included 6 original marriage licenses that were transferred to the Knox Co. Archives on Dec. 13, 2007 (after appraisal). Photocopies are in folder 148.
