Scope and Contents

Loudon County Historian Rhea Alexander’s collection includes correspondence and papers, photographs, research on families of Loudon, Blount, Monroe, Rhea, and Roane counties, Cherokee Indian families and records, typescripts of treaties with the Cherokee, Colony of Virginia Fort, historic buildings, “Beloved Landmarks of Loudon County,” Hiwassee District, Loudon Co. Bicentennial Film, tax lists, Civil War soldiers, Pioneers of Roane County, James Wyly grave, Regent Hiwassee Chapter DAR. Some items were moved into the McClung Collection’s catalogued library collection. A Separation List is available which includes a Gallaher family chart and maps with buildings and lots marked by Mrs. Alexander.] Photograph of Roane College, Wheat, Tenn, in folder 360 a. Folder 22b added 9-2013, Brittain material The collection includes boxes of index cards (put in order by Earl Alexander, husband of Rhea Alexander. He and friends spent about 5 years trying to put the material in order before donating it.
