Mary Utopia Rothrock (1890-1976) papers. Weeded by Miss Rothrock before donation. Subject divisions include: Biographical material; library; speeches, writings and publishing; history textbooks; historical research; Tennessee Historical Commission; historic preservation; McClung Collection; East Tennessee Historical Society; other historical societies; hereditary societies and groups; Rothrock genealogy; correspondence and papers; diaries and calendars; person papers--property holdings, interests and organizations; photographs; material re: her death; Etta McDowell papers and correspondence; Etta McDowell diaries and calendars; award certificates, diplomas; oversize material including Tennessee History, Discovering Tennessee, map from Haywood’s Aboriginal Tennessee. The library papers, the largest part of the collection, include her work at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) libraries, Knox County Library, Lawson McGhee Library and the McClung Historical Collection, rural libraries, regional libraries, and libraries of the Tennessee Valley. She served as president of the American Library Association.
