Lizzie Crozier French Papers.

Identifier: MSC 0136

Scope and Contents

Lizzie Crozier French papers and scrapbooks. Folder dated Nov. 20,1885-Aug. 1895 contains the original minutes of the first Ossoli Circle club meeting. The McClung Historical Collection owns a small collection of Lizzie Crozier French material, which includes her involvement with the women's suffrage movement. The collection includes a scrapbook related to suffrage activities, primarily made up of newspaper clippings with some ephemeral items. Many of the clippings are undated and most do not provide the name of the newspaper. The dates range from approximately 1913 to 1925. In addition to the very fragile and brittle nature of the clippings, the scrapbook is of the older style, made up of pages with dots of glue and clippings placed in layers, one on top of the other.

Language of Materials

The Lizzie Crozier French scrapbook was microfilmed in an effort to preserve the original version of the item, before the scrapbook was turned over to a professional conservator. On this microfilm the scrapbook pages were filmed as they appeared, without attempting to open the longer clippings or to reveal the clippings underneath the top layer on each page. To have done so would have resulted in irreparable damage to the scrapbook and hampered the conservation effort. -- Original scrapbook is not available for viewing.
