Scope and Contents

Papers of Frederick Armstead Ault (1872-1938), Knoxville leader in social, civic, and religious activities. Son of Henry T. Ault and Eliza Morgan McClung Ault. Ancestors include: Charles McClung, Sr.; William Blount; General James White; and James White McClung. Frederick A. Ault married Mary Sanford. Papers include: letters to and from family and friends of the McClung family; 1843 address given by Henry T. Ault before the Young Men’s Literary Society; 1850 constitution and proceedings of the Sunday School Society of the Methodist Church South; bank notes; clippings; four issues of Student and Schoolmate, 1857-1858; Gallery of Shakespeare, or Illustrations of His Dramatic Works, Romeo and Juliet (1829 London imprint).
