Scope and Contents

The collection is primarily scrapbooks dealing with her life and her family kept by Deas Sinkler Adams Briscoe (Mrs. Russell Briscoe,). She was from Kensington, Md. but her family was from S. C. Deas Adams (1902-1987) met Russell Briscoe (1899-1979) while he served in the military in Washington, D. C., during World War I. The couple were married in 1923. Russell Briscoe worked for J. E. Lutz Insurance eventually serving as executive vice president. He was also active in many civic organizations, but he is remembered today especially for the 75 history-themed paintings he produced from 1957 to 1979. Includes primarily family material but also life and career of Russell Briscoe and other family members.
